18 Years Later, Dior’s Saddlebag is officially Back. I know there has been a gallon of blog post already available online and you would be thinking what different she could have written.  And Yes facts are as same as Vogue to any other blog post that is available here. Now what’s the point of another blog post about the same topic which has been covered by every big fashion houses, so here’s the difference: my personal thoughts, the excitement level, curiosity to know each and every small detail behind this bag.

Excitement for the return of Dior’s equestrian-inspired Saddlebag line is sky high which dominated the ‘IT bag’ era of the early 2000s.

When The Dior Saddle bags was introduced for the first time in the 2000s, I was a little kiddo at that time so I had no idea about its history. So come let’s dig into Its history together.

It was first introduced to Dior’s audience by former creative director John Galliano for Spring/Summer 2000 collection. The design was inspired from the shape of a horse saddle, the handbag has a unique asymmetric shape with the unmissable metal “CD/D” stands for Christian Dior hanging from the flap.

Let’s look at the old version of the IT bag.

When we are talking about IT bag, how can we forget Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw fashion worshipping character from Sex and the City, she was rocking this IT bag in season 3, because of whom I started watching that Tv series. Well, there were more legends to rock this in the early 00s take a look.

Handbags are in a league of their own. Handbags are power players in the lexicon of fashion accessories and give a sense of being ahead of the curve. Unique about handbags is that once a new shape gains popularity on the scene, it stays around for a quite long while until new shape/design crop up each season to give the style a facelift. History likes to make a comeback in fashion every couple of decades, and this time its back with upgradation. ‘It gets better’ with time.

Maria Grazia Chiuri made some changes to the original design. “I thought this collection would be an opportunity to revive its timeless beauty. I consider this icon of the house’s recent history the perfect accessory to deal with the battle that is daily life. Indeed, the SADDLE BAG is a bag that is worn in exactly the same way as a shirt or jacket, and it’s so comfortable to wear with its long strap that you almost forget it’s there. The saddle bag is also practical because it allows you to carry everything you need with you. It’s for this reason that I wanted it larger and more robust, but also very colorful, embroidered or with beaded fringe because, like a chameleon, it adapts to all situations”, she said.
